Colin Kaepernick: U.S. Military Official Cautioned Ravens On Signing QB

Colin Kaepernick U.S. Military Official Cautioned Ravens… On Signing QB

3/5/2018 1:00 AM PST

EXCLUSIVE

At least one high-ranking U.S. military official counseled the Baltimore Ravens about signing Colin Kaepernick … and made it very clear he is NOT a fan of the QB.

TMZ Sports has learned … when Ravens head coach John Harbaugh was considering signing Kaepernick to the team before the 2017 NFL season, he sought advice from some trusted friends.

We’ve learned at least one of those friends is a high-ranking member of the U.S. military who essentially told Harbaugh to seriously consider if Colin’s national anthem demonstration fell in line with the team’s core values.

The official didn’t outright say, “Don’t sign Kaep” — but advised the team to give Colin a set of specific guidelines he needed to follow if he wanted to keep his job.

Translation — if he kneels, he’s fired.

Ultimately, the Ravens decided NOT to go with Kaepernick — instead signing journeyman backup QB Thad Lewis, who hadn’t thrown a pass in the NFL in 4 years.

Danielle Bregoli's Set to Kick Off Bhanned in the USA Tour in April

Danielle BregoliCatch Me On Tour, Bitches!!!

3/5/2018 12:50 AM PST

EXCLUSIVE

Danielle Bregoli‘s going international when she kicks off a 25-city tour that — if all goes well — could also nab the barely-old-enough-for-a-driver’s-permit a whopping ONE MILLION BUCKS.

Production sources tell TMZ … Danielle — aka Bhad Bhabie — starts her Bhanned in the USA tour in Orange County and then hits major cities across North America … from Dallas, Miami, NYC and Boston to Chicago, ‘Frisco, Vancouver and L.A.

We’re told Bhabie’s tour then goes across the pond — Germany, Belgium, Paris, London and Amsterdam before closing out in Copenhagen. For what it’s worth … most of the venues slated to host her hold about 1,000 people or less. Baby steps.

Bhabie exploded onto the rap scene (deal with it) since releasing “These Heaux” and “Hi Bich,” which have nearly 140 million combined YouTube views. This popularity’s fueling expectations of hitting upwards of $1 mil in the 6-week tour run.

The tour starts April 14 and tickets go on sale Friday. Get it, Bhabie.

Oscar De La Hoya Changes Tune on Floyd, 'Can Do Well' in UFC

Oscar De La Hoya I Changed My Mind …Floyd Wouldn’t Get Wrecked in UFC

3/5/2018 12:45 AM PST

EXCLUSIVE

Just a month ago, Oscar De La Hoya told us Floyd Mayweather would get strangled unconscious in 10 SECONDS in a UFC fight.

But now, Oscar’s pullin’ a 180 — telling us he truly believes Floyd “can do well” if he steps inside the Octagon.

Don’t get it twisted — Oscar hasn’t forgotten about the Floyd-Conor McGregor “circus” pulling attention off the first Canelo vs. GGG fight … but it seems like he’s turned a new leaf with Canelo-GGG 2 taking center stage on May 5.

“I wish him all the best,” De La Hoya told TMZ Sports. “If a boxer, and one of my colleagues, is gonna go inside the cage, I obviously have to go and support Floyd.”

Just as long as it’s after May — right, Oscar?

Florida Shooting Student Survivors Getting Approached for Documentary Deals

Florida Shooting SurvivorsApproached for Documentary Deals

3/5/2018 12:40 AM PST

EXCLUSIVE

The Florida shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School could become a documentary soon, ’cause some students are getting approached by Hollywood producers … TMZ has learned.

Sources tell us at least a couple student survivors have been getting calls to participate in some sort of docu-type project that would depict the tragedy and its aftermath.

We’re told these students are fielding requests from a number of producers and executives for potential deals on a full-blown movie documentary, a TV documentary and a TV docuseries. They’re sorting through these talks with some high-powered publicists.

As we reported … some students are also being hit up for possible book deals on the shooting … they’ve taken meetings with publishers … but nothing’s been inked just yet.

Unclear what kind of money is being discussed for a documentary, but we’re told any funds would either go directly to March For Our Lives or toward gun control advocacy efforts.

Police seek suspended Raider Smith in DV case

ALAMEDA, Calif. — Suspended Oakland Raiders linebacker Aldon Smith is being sought by San Francisco police in connection with an alleged domestic violence incident Saturday night in San Francisco.

“The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries,” according to a police statement provided to the San Jose Mercury-News. “The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival and was identified as professional football player Aldon Smith, a 28-year-old Oakland resident.”

The statement said that officers arrived around 8:30 p.m. at a residence on Bush Street after receiving the call of a domestic-violence incident.

Smith, a first-round pick of the San Francisco 49ers in 2011 and one-time first-team All Pro, has had numerous run-ins with the law.

He was arrested on suspicion of DUI in January 2012, a charge that was later reduced to reckless driving.

He faced three felony weapons charges stemming from a June 2012 party at his home. Police said several shots were fired, two partygoers were injured, and Smith was stabbed. Smith pleaded not guilty, and the weapons charges were later reduced.

Smith was arrested and charged with DUI again after a car accident in September 2013. He voluntarily entered rehab and missed five games that season. In July 2014, Smith was sentenced to 11 days of work release for that DUI and was later suspended nine games by the NFL for the incident.

Smith was again arrested in April 2014 at Los Angeles International Airport. Police said he was randomly selected for a secondary screening and became uncooperative, telling a TSA agent that he had a bomb. No charges were filed in that incident.

He was sentenced to 20 days in jail after pleading no-contest to a hit-and-run charge from an incident on Aug. 6, 2015, for which he was charged with driving under the influence for the third time.

The 49ers released him in the wake of that incident, and the Raiders signed him.

Smith played nine games for Oakland in 2015, with seven starts, and had 3.5 sacks. But the NFL, in reaction to his numerous brushes with the law and the league’s substance abuse policy, suspended Smith for a year on Nov. 17, 2015, and has yet to reinstate him. The team can have no contact with Smith, who has continued to have legal problems.

On the weekend of Feb. 11, 2017, Smith’s name appeared in a report taken by SFPD from a domestic-related investigation, according to TMZ Sports, but no arrests were made.

On March 10, 2017, Smith was again detained by SFPD when he was a passenger in a car that ran into a police cruiser. He was released without any charges.

The Raiders, who signed Smith to a two-year contract extension that would not have paid him unless he was reinstated and played before the 2016 season, did not respond to calls for a comment.

Griffin runs fastest LB 40 in more than decade

Central Florida linebacker Shaquem Griffin ran a time of 4.38 seconds in the 40-yard dash Sunday at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis, the fastest time for a linebacker in more than a decade.

Stanford’s Jon Alston had the previous best time for a linebacker in the 40, at 4.40 in 2006, the first year ESPN Stats & Information began documenting 40 times at the combine.

Griffin’s twin brother, Shaquill, a cornerback with the Seattle Seahawks, also ran a 4.38 at last year’s combine.

Shaquem Griffin’s 4.38 came in his first attempt at the 40. He ran a 4.58 in his second attempt.

It was a big weekend for Griffin, who on Saturday did 20 repetitions of 225 pounds in the bench press, using a prosthetic on his left arm to attach to the bar. Griffin had his left hand amputated at age 4 because of amniotic band syndrome, a congenital condition.

He was a late addition to the list of combine invitees, getting his formal invitation on Jan. 30.

Steelers scout Mark Gorscak helped coordinate the 40-yard dash and wore a T-shirt honoring linebacker Ryan Shazier, who suffered a spinal injury this season. Shazier noticed Griffin’s run as well:

Seahawks defensive back Richard Sherman said Griffin has proved himself in a post on Twitter:

Griffin was a two-year starter at Central Florida and a first-team All-American Athletic Conference selection in each of those seasons. In 2016 he was the league’s defensive player of the year with 92 tackles, 11.5 sacks, an interception and two forced fumbles.

This past season he closed out his career as the MVP of the Peach Bowl, helping Central Florida defeat Auburn 34-27 and finish with a 13-0 record.
